| | | "BOGEY" DUCORE 1997 – 2003 | You were the first puppy and the first dog we ever had. You brought happiness, love and warmth to Jeffrey and the rest of our family. You were far smarter than any other dog and we loved you unconditionally. You were taken from us at a young age, but you will live in our hearts forever. We know that we will meet our "Bogey Doodles" again in a far better place. Rest in Peace dear friend. | | Click Image for Related Information! | | | "MacGyver" Farson 1991-2003 | It hurts me more than words can express to share with you the sad news of
the loss of my beloved MacGyver.
Mac would have been 12 in June. After nearly 12 years of life, including
three wonderful, happy years with my mother and me in Vancouver, Mac
succumbed to congestive heart failure (and the resulting pulmonary oedema)
last night.
The condition was first diagnosed last November, when he started a honking
cough. Our local veterinarian put Mac on a regime of Lotensin and Lasix,
which gave him another three months. He did remarkably well; he was holding
his own on the meds, still running around in our municipal off-leash doggie
park, eating like a pig and just having a good time, but coughing a bit.
Three weeks ago, I took him for an ultrasound. The veterinary cardiologist
determined that his heart valves were severely compromised. They warned me
that his condition might deteriorate rapidly. Sadly, this came to pass much
sooner than we had hoped.
Last Tuesday night, he took a dramatic turn for the worse. He showed
ever-increasing signs of respiratory distress, with loss of lucidity and
appetite, and did not respond to increased medication levels. Finally, on
Thursday evening, we rushed him to the veterinary hospital. They x-rayed
him, and found that his lungs were totally congested with fluid. They felt
that the rapid decline (over the past 48 hours) was most likely due to a
heart-valve rupture - he was using up all his energy just to breathe.
So we did the only decent thing. Mac is now with St. Francis. I will forever
cherish the kiss he gave me on the nose as the kind doctor carried him
inside to embark on his journey across the Rainbow Bridge.
I shall always be indebted to you and to your colleagues for supporting me
in my fight to keep Mac going in the early days when he was racked with IBS.
Thanks to you, to Dr. Russo who provided me with IBS research papers, and to
other members of your highly professional team, we were able to develop a
diet/medication protocol to control the problem. As the years passed, Mac
became stronger, and the bowel attacks became less and less frequent. Thus,
I consider our eleven years together as a unique blessing and a special
gift.
MacGyver will live forever in my heart - I shall always remember him as an
intelligent, friendly and loving dog, utterly devoted to me, his little tail
always wagging and a smile on his face. | | Click Image for Related Information! | | | "Nikka" Lamontagne | Nikka: This is goodbye to our sweet precious friend. A TRIBUTE TO OUR PET, Gobi Zhuulchin
Dear Gobi,
With sadness but with great love, Joan and I want to say for all to hear what a fine and wonderful little Shih Tzu dog you have been as our pet for your so-
short life span, 1989-2003. It seems like only yesterday that you picked me out by coming up and licking my hand there at your birth home with your Mom up there in Gaithersburg, Maryland in September of 1989.
We had returned from a trip to the old Soviet Union, even Siberia and Outer Mongolia, and had started looking for a little Shih Tzu to replace Chin-Chin, my Mother`s little dog, whom we took over to care for when she passed on. As you know, Gobi, you were named after the Gobi Dessert, partly because you were brown, tan and white, like that dessert, and partly because we liked Mongolia and had purchased a little Mongolian Prayer Rug which soon became your own private rug. Just to be sure that the AKC would accept your name, "Gobi," we added the name "Zhuulchin," meaning "Mongolian Tourist Office" and you lived up to your name because you went with us wherever we went in the US, usually under the airplane seat in your little Sherpa Bag. You traveled to California three times, once by car in the back seat, and always went with us from Washington, D.C. to Palm Beach Shores usually by plane but for sure once a year by auto for thirteen years of your life.
Gobi, you have always been a joy to be around, always spinning, spinning, and spinning to greet whoever came to our home. Of course you also spun for treats or a little vanilla ice cream in your later years. Gobi, you never met a human being, another dog, or even a cat, you didn`t like. Would that we human beings were so thoughtful and understanding towards our fellow man. And you were so adaptable, whether you were here in our Condo, which you loved with its views and ocean sniffs and friends or in our Town House in Maryland. When, last year, you were taken with a debilitating back problems which caused you to lose partial loss of your back legs, and your Vet, Dr. Simmons, came up with the right treatment, you rallied around and proved us all wrong by learning to walk all over again, walking somewhat like Chester of the old TV show, "Gunsmoke." You have been doing pretty well since then in spite of your age.
Then this January, you fooled us all again, and came back from a serious heart problem and gave us another few months of happiness. We will miss you so much. You are a tribute to your ancient Chinese Shih Tzu breed and our children and grandchildren will miss your lively and friendly way of loving them right back when they were sometimes a little rough in loving you. Go in Peace, Gobi, for you have earned a rest. You have been a loyal and faithful dog to your loved ones, dear Gobi. May your travels to the Stars be as joyful as your travels with us have been.
Love,
Dave and Joan Spokely

That made him so soft and cuddly, you couldn`t get enough of holding him. If you were having a bad day, one look from his beautiful blue eyes would make you smile. John loved the way he would walk up to you, meow demandingly for you to play with him, and then run away so you would chase him. I loved his soft paw on my cheek when he would wake me in the mornings. His impish, playful ways, made him so easy to love and so hard to lose. We loved him so very much. We will remember him and miss him forever. – John & Wanda Cooke
